“Extremely informative. Hats is the GCSE preparation this year. Range of hats gave a huge insight and inspiration” Teacher Chancello School “Backs up and extends what we do in the classroom.” Teacher, Denbigh High School Our museum sessions give pupils an opportunity to carry out in-depth research using a wide range of primary sources. These range from artefacts, photographs, oral history, original documents and the buildings themselves, to focussing on our unique textile collections. At John Dony Field Centre, students can take part in a day long field trip, using their practical work as research for a debate on nature conservation. We are also currently working with the Luton Borough Council Schools’ Improvement Team and Putteridge High School to develop a cross-curricular visit to Stockwood Discovery Centre that incorporates mathematical problem solving. We welcome working in such partnerships and would be interested in hearing from any school or college who is interested in developing a scheme of work around our museums. Here are the subject areas we cover so far: |
